Block Party

Why is this workshop different?

This isn’t a lecture about props—it’s an experiential journey. We’ll move thoughtfully through familiar flows, pausing to experiment with block heights, placements, and variations. You’ll discover how to find the support you need for stability, learn how to use blocks to build strength, and master modifications that honor your body’s unique proportions and needs.

With blocks at your side throughout the workshop, you’ll explore everything from foundational alignment to creative variations. Whether you’ve never tried blocks or want to learn how to use them more effectively, you’ll leave with confidence and practical skills you can apply immediately—in any class, at any studio, or in your home practice.

Through hands-on exploration and guided sequences, everyone will learn creative ways to use props for support in balance poses, to deepen stretches, to build stability in standing poses, and to modify challenging postures. You’ll also discover how props can actually intensify your practice rather than simplify it.

Here’s what we’ll explore:

  • Block versatility in foundational poses (Child’s Pose, Downward Dog, Plank)

  • Alignment and stability in standing sequences (Triangle, Side Angle, Mountain Pose)

  • Strength and confidence in balancing poses (Half Moon, Warrior III, Tree Pose)

  • Depth and sustainability in hip openers and twists (Lizard, Fire Log, Dragon Twist)

  • Accessibility and intensity in backbends (Bridge, Camel, Sphinx)

  • Courage and preparation for arm balances (Crow Pose, Handstand prep)

  • Support and integration in restorative shapes (Fish Pose, Waterfall, Savasana)

Who should attend Block Party:

Honestly? Everyone. But you’ll especially love this workshop if you:
Have shorter limbs and the floor feels unreachable in Triangle or Forward Fold
Have longer proportions and there’s a gap between your hands and the ground in seated poses
Experience shoulder tightness that makes weight-bearing poses like Downward Dog or Plank uncomfortable
Have tight hips or sensitive knees and struggle to hold openers like Pigeon, Bound Angle, or Fire Log
Are pregnant or have a larger body and need modifications for forward folds, twists, and seated poses that work with your shape, not against it.

Carol is a 500 hour RYT whose classes incorporate asana, pranayama, meditation, and accessible introductions to yoga philosophy. Her goal is to encourage and inspire everyBODY regardless of background or experience and to take what we learn off the mat and into our communities.
