Michelle Roy

Yoga is my greatest passion, and nothing makes me happier than to share this ancient and wise practice as my vocation. I’ve had the honor of studying with some of the best national teachers over the past 25 years, indeed being only a few degrees removed from some of the most venerated sages of India. I like to make yoga accessible by teaching safe and achievable postures, in a welcoming, all-levels format and I especially enjoy teaching yoga in nature. In addition to poses, my classes include a big focus on breath/breathing techniques, and my greatest emphasis is on meditation practice and Eastern philosophy.

I have studied human anatomy extensively, learning yoga therapeutics and several kinds of bodywork, primarily using myofascial techniques in my sessions. The combination of yoga and massage expertise offers me a more holistic perspective of the body. Truly a believer of Easts meets West, I possess a physiological understanding of the organ systems and how they intersect with the Five Element Theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I’ve also studied several energy-healing methods and offer energetic healing sessions, commonly known as Reiki.

My intention for my students and clients is to feel their time with me was well spent and they leave feeling nourished and nurtured. I reside in the Nashville area with my favorite person and our uber-cool kitty, Mystic.
